In April, the Orange County Health Department invited Prevent Blindness Florida to provide Healthy Vision Corners at two health clinic locations: Downtown Orlando and south Orange County. In addition to providing regularly scheduled free vision screenings, the Healthy Vision corners provide important educational information about eye health and safety.
Teresa Moran, program manager for Prevent Blindness Florida, shared, “We are looking forward to a continued partnership with the Orange County Health Department (OCHD). Both agencies view this program as a valuable public health service not only for OCHD clients, but for the Orange County community. We are delighted to be able to offer free vision screenings and education at the health clinics.”
The vision screenings are open to both children and adults and are conducted by nationally-certified Prevent Blindness Florida staff. The screenings are designed to support the work of ophthalmologists and optometrists by referring adults and children with potential vision problems for diagnosis and treatment. For those identified through our screenings as in need, we are able to provide low or no-cost vision care through generous grants, donations and partnerships.
