Prevent Blindness Florida, an affiliate of Prevent Blindness America, was established in 1957 and is the state's leading sight-saving organization. Since our inception, we have provided services including:
- vision screening for children
- glaucoma screening for at-risk adults
- standardized training in recognizing potential vision problems
- certification through the nation's only volunteer vision screening program
- coordination of a community eye care network of ophthalmologists and optometrists who provide free exams
- distribution of vouchers for free exams and glasses provided by our corporate sponsors
- public information about eye health and safety, including workplace and fireworks safety
The Prevent Blindness Florida Board of Governors represents various professions and communities across the state. We cannot fully express our appreciation to these dedicated volunteer leaders for their efforts to keep Floridians in Sight!
