Bill Burke
Chairman of the Board


As current Chairman of the Board , Bill Burke has served on the Prevent Blindness Georgia Board of Directors since 2006.

With over 20 years experience in the health care industry Bill Burke’s focus has been strategic planning and business development for clients representing innovation in health care. During this time, he has played a leading role as co-founder, consultant and executive to information technology and service providers dependent on effective data capture and management in demonstrating market differentiation and effectiveness. His career has also been dedicated to the implementation of population health management and productivity enhancement solutions for self-funded employers.

Currently, Burke is the founder and managing principal of Capitol Health Associates, LLC, a health care consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. with offices in Atlanta, Georgia. In this capacity, he routinely serves both Fortune 500 companies as well as emerging growth companies as a strategic advisor to corporate management. Areas of expertise include strategic direction, merger and acquisition strategies, funding, corporate restructuring and business process reengineering.

Internationally, Burke has worked with in the establishment of joint ventures between U.S. specialty hospitals and hospitals abroad. Through the design and development of telemedicine capabilities and negotiated service agreements, he has focused on his efforts primarily in the Middle East and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

As part of his work with Capitol Health Associates, LLC, Burke focused on creating strategic business partnerships with Medical ARchival Systems, Incorporated (“MARS”), a legacy connectivity information technology platform invented at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He worked as a consultant to the management team to commercialize the company’s unique data capture and reporting technology to the private health care sector.

Prior to his work with Capitol Health Associates, Burke worked with I-trax, Incorporated is a technology-enabled population health management company supported by interactive, real-time software solutions. He provided strategic planning and business development support to I-trax in its start-up stage in support of i-trax’s achievement of providing the date management capabilities to the first ever accredited disease management model by JCAHO. As the organization evolved, Burke worked with management to successfully transition the company from a design/build business model to a technology-enabled disease management service provider.

Before becoming a health care management consultant, Burke served as the Administrator of Atlanta Cardiothoracic Surgical Associates, an Atlanta, Georgia-based specialty physician practice, where he successfully directed the consolidation of physician practices while improving overall practice profitability. He also served as the Chief Financial Officer of Atlanta Cardiology Group, Atlanta’s largest cardiology group. As CFO, his work included the development and acquisition of physician practices and the implementation of comprehensive cost-saving strategies.

Prior to his work in physician practice management, Mr. Burke served as Vice President of Corporate Health Services of America, an Atlanta, Georgia-based provider of preventive medical services. His responsibilities included financial management and business development.

Burke earned his B.S. degree in Accounting & Finance from Auburn University. He resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife and three daughters.
