About Us

Mission Statement

The mission of Prevent Blindness Georgia is to prevent blindness and preserve sight for the residents of Georgia.

History

Prevent Blindness Georgia was established in 1965 as an affiliate of Prevent Blindness America, the nation's leading volunteer eye health and safety organization. For more than 40 years, we have served thousands of Georgians each year with early detection vision screenings, current information on eye health and safety and assistance with eye examinations and glasses. In 2001, we began Vision Outreach®, a mobile, full-service vision program that offers free vision screenings, eye examinations and low-cost eyeglasses to low-income adults.
