GIFT OF VISION

Keeping Hoosier Adults In Sight

The rate of uninsured Hoosiers is growing at twice the national average, and 51 percent of our senior citizens are below the federal poverty line. With the increasing price tag on health insurance, secondary employee benefits such as vision coverage are often the first to go, rendering eyesight—one of our most treasured senses—a luxury instead of necessity.

Our "Gift of Vision" program matches these economically underprivileged individuals with eye-care professionals in their area who donate their time and services to those who need, but cannot afford, eye care. These professionals become a member of our statewide doctor network.

Who is eligible for "Gift of Vision" services?

PBI requires "Gift of Vision" clients to meet certain eligibility requirements before they are helped; these guidelines help determine those in most dire financial need.

What services are donated through the "Gift of Vision" program?

"Gift of Vision" furnishes eye exams and glasses (when possible) to eligible clients, and occasionally even surgical procedures. The doctors’ gifts are tax deductible.

This program is possible only because of the generosity of our wonderful eye-care professionals, most of whom have been with the program since its inception in 2002.

If you would like to send a Gift of Vision help request on behalf or yourself or a client, you can email this form to sthatcher@pbeye.org or fax it to 317-815-9952.
