Prevent Blindness Indiana originated from a society organized in the mid-1940s to prevent blindness and preserve sight throughout Indiana and became Prevent Blindness America’s (PBA) first affiliate in 1950. Many volunteer groups have supported PBI over the years, but POV has been the most enduring. In 1981, Marilyn Glick founded the People of Vision (POV) auxiliary to assist Prevent Blindness Indiana in its sight-saving endeavors.

POV members contribute volunteer hours to screening Indiana’s children and adults for vision problems, as well as provide indispensable office assistance and fundraising support.

As a fellow sight saver, please consider increasing your level of involvement:

  • If you are not a member, join now.
  • If you are an active member, step up to contributing at the patron level of membership.
  • Take advantage of one of our many volunteer opportunities—share your skills by giving your time in an area that interests you.
  • Become a Lifetime Member in POV's Endowment Fund for PBI with a minimum contribution of $1,000.

With the funds raised by POV for annual and long-term needs, PBI will have increasing support each year to help secure our vision for Indiana children and adults: to see the world as it is meant to be seen.
