Dr. Lou Cantor spoke at the Indiana University Spring Mill Medical Building on January 17th. He presented on diseases of the eye - cataracts, retinopathy, macular degeneration and glaucoma. IU recently received a $30 milllion gift from Eugene & Marilyn Glick to open the Glick Eye Institute to further their advances in vision care research.
The People of Vision Auxiliary was founded by Marilyn Glick in 1981 to support Prevent Blindness Indiana and now includes more than 565 members.

POV members contribute volunteer hours to screening Indiana’s children and adults for vision problems. In 2006 alone, POV screened 769 children in 15 IPS schools and referred 82 to an eye-care professional. POV also continues providing indispensable assistance in our office, as well as raised hundreds of thousands in fundraising support from dues and special events.
As a fellow sight-saver, please consider increasing your level of involvement:
- If you are not a member, join now.
- If you are an active member, step up to contributing or patron level of membership.
- Take advantage of one of our many volunteer opportunities—share your skills by giving your time in an area that interests you.
- Become a Lifetime Member for a one-time contribution of only $1,000. POV’s goal is to raise at least $25,000 this year to add to the $50,000 raised since their 25th anniversary in 2006. This contribution is tax deductible!
With the funds raised by POV, PBI will have increasing amounts each year to help secure our vision for Indiana children and adults: to see the world as it is meant to be seen.
