Community Vision Screening Programs
1) The Lions Clubs of District 33Y of Western Massachusetts is planning for the purchase of an EyeMobile to provide health screenings for eye disease, vision loss, hearing loss, and high blood pressure.
State Medicaid Benefits
Massachusetts Medicaid requires prior approval for specified services/items including vision training. Benefits include 1 refractive exam every 2 years unless specific diagnostic criteria are met. The reimbursement methodology is fee for service, and there is no co-payment specified. Both the categorically and medically necessary populations are covered.

Greater Boston Guild for the Blind

SightCare Community Vision Loss Education Program provides community-based vision loss rehabilitation information, education, and training to visually impaired seniors and their caregivers. Forty SightCare community-based workshops will be held, where seniors and their caregivers will be provided with education about techniques, devices, and services that can help seniors stay independent and safe in their own homes for as long as possible.
