2008 See the World through your Taste Buds
Nestled between the wine racks and food from around the world, See the World through your Taste Buds, a fundraiser of World Market at 78th & Dodge St., raised nearly $1,000 for the programs and services of Prevent Blindness Nebraska. Guests enjoyed sampling a wide variety of delicious food and complimenting wines for a minimum $5 donation. A silent auction of creative World Market baskets was included in the event.

2008 Night Sight Golf Tournament
Although there was a late summer threat of rain, the evening turned out to be a perfect night for golf after dark. Event Chairman Kirk Swartzbaugh reported the sold-out event raised over $9,000 to support the programs and services of Prevent Blindness Nebraska. A buffet dinner was provided by the Eagle Run Old Chicago prior to the program and oral auction. Kirk Swartzbaugh served as the emcee for the program, and fellow Prevent Blindness Nebraska board member and Auctioneer Scott Moore led the oral auction. Included in the auction were four UNO Maverick Hockey players, Jared Kaufmann, JP Platisha, Mark Bernier and Dan Swanson, who were auctioned to play with a foursome.
The event was sponsored by Midwest Eye Care and Prudential, with support from many local organizations that contributed prizes for the silent auction.
