Prevent Blindness Ohio is dedicated to addressing the challenge to prevent blindness and preserve sight through our wise investment of community support in programs and services.
Prevent Blindness Ohio is one of only eight nonprofits among Ohio’s 37,000 non-profit organizations to be awarded the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations’ (OANO) Standards for Excellence Seal. Prevent Blindness Ohio was awarded this certification for demonstrating accountability and ethical standards in our operations, governance, human resources, financial management and fundraising practices. Donors now have an added layer of confidence that their support is invested wisely in a well-managed non-profit that fulfills its obligations to those who benefit from its programs, to contributors and to the public.
Prevent Blindness Ohio provided access to donated comprehensive eye care (including professional eye exams, glasses and surgery) to 6,147 disadvantaged children and adults throughout Ohio last year. We trained and equipped 489 health care professionals and volunteers who provided vision screenings to over 600,000 children and adults. And, we educated millions of consumers about what they can do to protect and preserve their gift of sight.
