
Bruce Herron, M.D., Gavin Maloy, PBT Chairman, Brad Kehler, O.D.
Prevent Blindness Tennessee (PBT) recently announced the addition of Bruce Herron, M.D. and Brad Kehler, O.D. to its Board of Directors. Dr. Herron and Dr. Kehler will each serve a three-year term as director. In addition, they will function as co-chairs of PBT’s Board of Directors Public Health Committee.
"We’re excited to welcome Dr. Herron and Dr. Kehler to Prevent Blindness Tennessee’s Board of Directors," said Gavin Maloy, PBT Board Chairman. "They are valuable additions to the Board not only because of the knowledge and skill they offer, but also because of the integrity and spirit of collaboration they bring as we work together to preserve sight in Tennessee."
Bruce Herron, M.D. is a comprehensive (general) ophthalmologist and practices at The Eye Clinic in Jackson, TN. Dr. Herron earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University Medical School and completed his internship and residency at the University of Iowa. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). Dr. Herron is a member of the Tennessee Academy of Ophthalmology (TAO) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He served as president of the TAO in 1988. Dr. Herron also served on the Council of the AAO representing Tennessee for several years. Dr. Herron is a native of Jackson, TN where he and his wife, Judy, reside. They have four grown children, one son and three daughters.
Brad Kehler, O.D. is a faculty optometrist in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Vanderbilt Eye Institute. His subspecialties are low vision and specialty contact lens fittings. Dr. Kehler received a Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry and graduated cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a degree in psychology. He is a member of the Tennessee Optometric Association (TOA), American Optometric Association (AOA), and a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry. He is a recipient of the Support of Vision Volunteer Award from Prevent Blindness Tennessee. Dr. Kehler and his wife, Lori Ann, reside in Nashville.
