Our Mission is to prevent blindness, preserve sight and enhance and extend the quality of vision life for all Texans through free programs.
Welcome to Prevent Blindness Texas, a non-profit, voluntary health and human service agency focused on preventing blindness; preserving sight; and enhancing and extending the quality of vision life for all Texans.
We strive to serve the greatest number of Texas residents by continually improving the delivery of services through our network of branch offices and volunteers. We help our clients and their families with free vision screening, eye examination referrals, counseling and education to enable them to live as full and normal a quality vision life as possible.
This new Disaster Response Plan (DRP) provides the framework for a response to eye injuries resulting from disasters within the jurisdiction of the Houston Branch of Prevent Blindness Texas (PBT), the Houston Ophthalmological Society (HOS), and the City of Houston Eye Van program which is staffed and supported by the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO).
