In celebration of its 50 years of service in Texas, Prevent Blindness Texas has named the month of August, 2006 "The Eyes of Texas" month. With 11 branch offices located in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Galveston, Lufkin, Austin, San Antonio, Lubbock, Midland, El Paso and the Rio Grande Valley, the organization is planning large vision screening events to expand its out reach in the communities it serves. Thousands of individuals are expected to take advantage of this opportunity.
Adults and children who fail these screenings will be referred for examinations performed by medical professionals. Free examinations and glasses are available to low income families who complete the application process and are approved.
The staff and volunteers of Prevent Blindness Texas are dedicated to the mission of, “Preventing Blindness and Saving Sight”. Check the schedule to find a screening in your local area.
