Letter from an Eye Patch Club Parent

I am a mother of three, with two children with strabismus and ambylopia. My 2 year old daughter is in occupational therapy due to issues arising from her poor vision. Both children must wear an eye patch with their glasses to hopefully correct their vision before it is too late. This makes each day a struggle to keep the patches on.

My son dreams of being an airline pilot, it breaks my heart to think I may have to tell his dream can't happen because of impaired vision. I was lucky that I had a knowledgeable pediatrician to refer us to a specialist, while they are still young. Still, it is a financial struggle for the additonal costs for vision care. There are many families without access to the care they need. I urge you to support the Vision Care for Kids Act, HR 507, introduced by Congressman Gene Green (D-TX). This important legislation ensures that children who are at risk for vision problems can access the vision care services they need.

Please take action today!
