Low Vision Aids and Clinics
Many people who are legally blind can be greatly helped by low-vision aids. Everything from magnifiers to talking clocks, from check writing aids to cooking aids can now be obtained. Whenever possible, it is wise to try the aid before purchasing it. Some of them are quite expensive, and a device that helps one person may not suit another. Often a doctor or optician can provide low vision aids or suggest places where they can be purchased. A few of the organizations that specialize in low vision aids are listed here. Send for their catalogues.

Transportation
Difficulty in obtaining transportation can be frustrating. Remember that many senior programs and churches have vans for your use. If you plan to fly, notify the airline ahead of time and they will help you. The Transit Authorities provide reduced rates for the elderly and handicapped. Call your local transit authority for more information.
