CHICAGO (October 9, 2007) Next week, the Senate is scheduled to vote on the FY 2008 Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations bill. This legislation funds important programs that improve vision health, strengthen vision loss prevention and invest in vision research. Among other important increases, the legislation includes a $125,000 boost for the CDC’s vision screening and education program.
President Bush has vowed to veto this bill, due to concerns over funding levels. If enough Senators support the bill, however, they might be able to override a Presidential veto. Prevent Blindness America is urging all Senators to support this critical legislation.
