Prevent Blindness America is happy to announce an opportunity for states to receive funding to implement the Vision Impairment and Access to Eye Care Module in the 2010 BRFSS survey.
Prevent Blindness America is working in partnership with the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) to coordinate support for these important modules. We are asking states to consider requesting funding for implementation of the Vision Impairment and Access to Eye Care Module, and we will be funding between 5-8 states (this is separate from a pool of funds that the NACDD has already made available for 9 states).
Instructions: Please contact Andrea Densham, Prevent Blindness America, at adensham@preventblindness.org by Wednesday, October 28th, 2009 to ensure that your state will be considered for funding.
Please provide a brief statement describing how the state-level burden will allow for the development and dissemination of targeted public health strategies to address these issue(s). Please limit your response to no more than one, double-spaced page.
Prevent Blindness America is hopeful that you will demonstrate an interest in the improvement of vision and eye health surveillance at state and local levels by including the optional modules in your BRFSS survey for 2010. As always, CDC will continue to assist with and guide data analysis.
