Columbus, OH (Dec. 9, 2013)–Prevent Blindness Ohio’s Mascot, Merlin the Wise Owl, is educating patrons at the Columbus Museum of Art about the importance of healthy vision in enjoying the beauty and intrigue of art. A placard placed near the artwork, “A-200” created by Tadasky instructs patrons to connect with Merlin via cell phone for a sight-saving message.
Tadasky is well-known for his optical illusion artwork which uses color, light and patterns to create images that may or may not be real due to our visual perception. Our eyes and our brain must work together in order to interpret images. A combination of colors, shapes, spatial relations and other stimuli viewed by the eyes and reported to the brain can achieve the effect of an optical illusion.
Merlin the Wise Owl from Prevent Blindness Ohio has dedicated his life to helping people take care of their gift of sight and says “that when it comes to eyes, we get “one pair and no spare”
“We are grateful to the Columbus Museum of Art for their partnership in helping us educate Ohioans of all ages about the importance of protecting their precious gift of sight by practicing good eye health and safety habits,” said Sherry Williams, President and CEO of Prevent Blindness Ohio.
Prevent Blindness Ohio recommends these healthy habits to enjoy good sight for life:
